Polling rate sets the ceiling on input sampling. An 8000 Hz controller samples the matrix every 0.125 microseconds of scan time, letting clicks land inside a single display frame even at 240 Hz refresh. Standard 1000 Hz boards still sample fast enough for all but tournament play.
Measured results confirm the wired advantage. The NK80 Range hit 0.8 ms with 42 cN speed-linear switches, followed by wired peers at 1.6 ms to 2.0 ms. Wireless boards using 2.4 GHz dongles measured 2.6 ms to 3.8 ms, and Bluetooth-only boards reached 4.4 ms to 4.9 ms.
Switch family contributes less than connection type. Actuation distance and spring weight shape repeat-fire feel, yet the latency spread between a 42 cN linear and a 55 cN tactile on identical wiring stayed under 1.2 ms in the August bench runs.
Esports players should buy wired at 8000 Hz; everyone else loses nothing measurable. At 120 Hz a frame lasts 8.3 ms, so the entire wireless penalty amounts to under half a frame, invisible outside reaction-time-critical titles.
